Butler University is seeking to hire an assistant professor of Classical Studies, specializing in Latin. This is a tenure track position and the requirements for the Ph.D. must be satisfied before the commencement of teaching in late August, 2008. The annual teaching load is 18 hours (9 hours per semester), consisting of Latin language courses; upper division Classical Studies courses with translated texts serving major/minor programs in Classical Studies, English, History, and Gender Studies; and core curriculum courses. The successful candidate will be a teacher whose enthusiasm will inspire the study of Classics and a scholar actively engaged in research. The deadline for application is November 2, 2007.
