VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY. The Department of Classical Studies invites
nominations and applications for a tenured Associate or Full Professor
position starting fall 2008. The candidate should be a Hellenist with a
research basis in Greek literature and culture. Candidates for the
position must have a substantial record of publication and be able to
demonstrate a sustained program of continuing research. The successful
candidate will fully participate in our department as an excellent
undergraduate and graduate teacher. Candidates need to show a willingness
to teach Greek and Latin at all levels, as well as to relate their
research interests to teaching courses that explore broader Mediterranean
cultures as a whole. We anticipate that the successful candidate will
play an active role in further promoting the department's engagement with
interdisciplinary connections between Classics and the university
curriculum. Prior administrative experience at the departmental level is
